Please join us for the Black River Nature Cruise, on the Wilmington waterfront!
This is a private charter designed for our company.

Everyone is invited!

Between your overwhelming response and our "staycation" theme, we think you will enjoy this private chartered cruise on The Wilmington catamaran when the air is crisp and the sky is Carolina blue! Cross your fingers for fall foliage color alongside this beautiful river with wildflowers, wildlife, ancient bald cypress trees and "tea colored" water. Bring your jacket, camera and sunglasses, sit back, relax and take in the sights of this memorable 4-hour cruise as Captain Doug Springer gives you the history of these hometown waters that have been likened to the Amazon River in South America.

From Wilmington Water Tours:
Wilmington Black River Nature Cruise

"We cruise up this wondrous river enjoying the variety of wildflowers, wildlife, and spectacular trees. Come on board and sit back and enjoy this narrated cruise. Bring your binoculars and cameras, and get ready for a memorable cruise.

The Black River is characterized by the meandering river and oxbows, artesian springs, and mature swamp forests. As tannins from decaying vegetation leach into the water, the river is stained its characteristic dark tea color."

From Our State Magazine:
"Short trip or long, a journey down the Black is always an excursion into majesty.

Although not immune to the development pressures most North Carolina rivers face, the Black River is largely unspoiled. The waterway has two characteristics going for it: It flows faster than most Coastal Plain waterways, so it sheds tainted runoff quickly; and large underground aquifers constantly recharge it with fresh water. In 1994, the state named the river an Outstanding Resource Water, a designation given only to the most pristine waterways."
