The Crooked Road is Virginia‘s Heritage Music Trail. It is a drive between Galax, VA and the coalfields. This trail connects major heritage music venues that originated with the Carter Family and ended up in Nashville, TN. These venues are a hand clapping, toe tapping, finger snapping way to learn the culture, history and music of Appalachia and its people. You will discover the roots that made the Grand Ole Opry “grand” while you recall some of the more recent and favorite musicians such as Elvis Pressley, Dolly Parton, Garth Brooks, Faith Hill, Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood, not to mention June Carter and Johnny Cash.
